EU and Japan Sign Deal Covering 600 Million People

  • A major trade deal has been signed between the EU and Japan. The agreement covers about one-third of the global economy and around 600 million people. The trade deal will help both the nations immensely. Japanese electronics firms and automakers would now face fewer barriers in EU and European exports such as wine and cheese will not be imposed with tariffs. The president of the European Council, Donald Tusk, has hailed the agreement terming it as the largest bilateral trade deal ever. In a written statement he stated “Relations between the European Union and Japan have never been stronger. Geographically, we are far apart. But politically and economically we could hardly be any closer.”
