Egypt: Islamic State claims responsibility for bombing of Italian consulate
July 12 , 2015
Islamic State militants have claimed responsibility for a car bomb attack on the Italian consulate in Cairo that killed one person.
Many people, including civilians and police officers, were injured in the explosion in the Egyptian capital, raising questions about President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s government’s ability to protect important installations in the country.
In a message on Twitter, Italy’s foreign minister Paolo Gentiloni said his country would “not let itself be intimidated” by such attacks.
