Dutch Riot Police Disperse Rallying Pro-Erdogan Mob

  • With deteriorating relation between Turkey and Netherlands, Dutch riot police has dispersed a rally, organized in support of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Reports say the protesters were mobbing police cars and throwing bottles. The rally was organized after Dutch authorities refused to allow entry of Turkey's minister of family and social policies, Fatma Betul Sayan Kaya, to the consulate. She was later escorted by Dutch police to the German border. Reports say Dutch authorities considered her road trip to Netherlands “irresponsible” as she arrived just before a planned rally for helping harness the votes of Turks (who are living in Netherlands) in a referendum (April 16 voting) for turning Turkey into a Presidential republic from a parliamentary one, aimed to expand Erdogan’s powers.
