Dozens killed in Karachi bomb blast
March 4 , 2013
At least 45 people were killed and 150 injured in a bomb explosion in the Pakistani city of Karachi on Sunday.
The blast occurred in the Shia Muslim area of Abbas Town and destroyed several buildings.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the bomb, which went off near a mosque after evening prayers.
Police are now investigating where the explosives were planted and whether it was a suicide attack.
Pakistan's Shia minority have been the target of several sectarian attacks from Sunni militant groups.
Around 200 people were killed in two separate bombings aimed at the Shia community in the southwestern city of Quetta in January and February.
Groups such as Lashkar-e-Jhangvi view Shia Muslims as heretics and have been responsible for attacks in recent years.
