Don't 'poison the well', McConnell warns Obama

  • Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the US Senate, has urged president Barack Obama to compromise with Congress following the Democrats' resounding defeat in the midterm polls.

Warning Obama not to “poison the well” by pursuing a unilateral approach to immigration reform, he pledged to introduce legislation to permit the Keystone XL pipeline, which environmentalists strongly oppose.

McConnell said former presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton were “good examples of accepting the government you have rather than fantasizing about the government you wish you had”.
