Disneyland Shuts Down after Legionnaires Disease Outbreak
November 12 , 2017
Orange County health officials in Los Angeles have said that 12 people are reportedly sick from Legionnaires disease. Nine people are either guests or employees of Disneyland, reports say. Pamela Hymel, Chief Medical Officer of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, has said in a written statement that they have ordered decontamination of two cooling towers so that the bacteria causing the disease get destroyed. No report is available so far regarding the health condition of the victims because of the presence of patient confidentiality laws. Legionnaires disease, caused by Legionella bacteria, is a potentially fatal respiratory disease that are likely to affect older people adversely.
