Severe shortage of jet fuel in New Zealand has left thousands of domestic and international passengers stranded. According to media reports, the shortage occurred after a digger damaged an airport supply pipe in the city of Auckland. Both the international as well as the domestic flights have been severely affected. According to Air New Zealand, the airlines have been advised to carry enough fuel before flying into Auckland. Meanwhile, the long-haul flights too have been asked to plan for refueling stops in Australia and the Pacific Islands. It is expected that around 2,000 passengers would be affected every day.
