The Dalai Lama has said that he realizes that he may well be the last person to hold the title.
The Tibetan spiritual leader who is in exile told the BBC that it was better to end a tradition, which goes back centuries, at the time of “a popular Dalai Lama".
He also said the international community must do more to support democracy in China. He said while China should be welcomed in to the global economy, “the free world has a moral responsibility to bring China into mainstream democracy”.
