Conservative Coalition wins Election in Australia, Labor Leader Concedes Defeat

  • Conservative Coalition wins Election in Australia, Labor Leader Concedes Defeat

Conservative coalition led by incumbent Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull declared victory after opposition Labor Leader Bill Shorten conceded defeat even when votes are still being counted. Labor party is struggling with 66 seats as uncertainty looms over 5 seats. However, the Liberal-National coalition is still short of the 76 magic figure of claiming majority in the House of Representatives (lower house). For guaranteeing budget supply and confidence, the coalition must secure at least 74 seats. Opposition leader Bill Shorten has already started predicting a return to the polls within a year.
