Colombia: Negotiator for Farc rebel group killed in bombing raid
May 28 , 2015
A Farc negotiator involved in peace talks in Cuba was killed in a bombing attack by Colombian government forces last week, the left-wing rebel group has said.
Jairo Martinez was among 27 rebels killed in the strike in Cauca province. He had joined the rebel negotiating team in February 2014.
Farc has also confirmed that Roman Ruiz, a divisional commander of the rebel group, was killed in an attack in Choco province.
Though peace talks between the rebels and Colombian government are continuing in Havana, there has been a sharp rise in violence in recent weeks.
