Clashes in Benghazi intensify as army seeks to retake areas
November 4 , 2014
Fierce clashes have been reported from Benghazi as the army tries to re-capture areas from pro-Islamist militias in Libya, media reports say.
A ship was hit at Benghazi’s port and residents in a central district were told by the army to clear the area ahead of a military undertaking.
At least 200 people have been killed in the fighting in the city in the past few weeks.
Libya has seen near-continuous unrest since the end of the Gaddafi regime in 2011, with rival militias, factions, and tribes vying for power.
