June 9 , 2018
US media reports say the Chinese government backed hackers have stolen highly sensitive security data from a US Navy contractor (who conducts R&D for submarines and underwater weapons for Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Rhode Island’s Newport). Reports further say the stolen data include highly sensitive supersonic missile project plan, whose implementation is expected to be done by 2020. Media reports confirm that the cyber attacks were carried out in the months of January and February this year. FBI is currently investigating the matter. A review on the possible cyber security issues have been ordered by the US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis. Reports also say that the sensitive data was stored in an unclassified network that belonged to the concerned contractor.
