Chinese Government Likely to End Restriction on Child Birth

  • The China government might lift restriction over two-child rule. Amidst the dropping birth rate and aging population, the government is likely to reconsider its current policy on kids. In 2016, one-child policy was forced on the people which eased to the current two-child policy. However, the code won't come into practice until March of 2020. It is also not clear how the changes would be made. It is also yet to be indicated whether there would still be any restriction on the families of the country.

The total fertility rate was calculated to be 1.6 children per woman as of 2017. However, this was below the necessary rate 2.1 required to keep the population steady.
