A French journalist has been expelled by the Chinese government for writing an article critical of China’s policy towards Muslim Uighers in Xinjiang. Media reports quoted officials as saying that press credentials for Ursula Gauthier would not be renewed. Gauthier is working with the French news magazine L'Obs. Gauthier will have to leave the country by December 31 if her press card is not renewed.
