  • Eight Years of Prison for Dog Meat Sellers in China

    June 30, 2016: Twenty-two people who have been selling tainted dog meat in Jiangsu Province of China were sentenced eight years of prison. In Rugao city, fourteen cases have been investigated by the prosecutors in which they found tainted food, including more than 5,000 kilograms of poisoned dog meat, near about 11,000 poisoned birds, and 500 kilograms of hazardous chemicals.

    China Celebrates its 10 Days Long Yulin Dog Meat Festival

    June 21, 2016: China is on the spree of celebrating the Yulin dog meat festival which runs for 10 long days. Around 10,000 dogs and cats are killed in this festival usually. However, activists have come forward with a petition this year to ban the festival, and also they have collected 11 million signatures. The festival has received many criticisms as some people say that the animals are cooked while alive, which is inhumane.
