August 1 , 2013
A child has died and around 12 people have been injured due to burst of a water main, which flooded a residential area near Rio de Janeiro.
The high pressure water ended up destroying around 20 homes and caused the death of a three-year-old girl who drowned in her home. More than 140 people were forced out of their homes and about 20 houses were destroyed as a result.
The pipeline has now been shut down but water continues to leak and flood the neighborhood.
The cause of this accident is unknown and officials have reported some people are missing.
