Catalonia pledges to hold independence vote
November 5 , 2014
Catalonia’s government says it will go ahead with a symbolic independence vote, defying both Madrid and a court order, as per media reports.
It said it would hold the “participative process” mindful of “all the consequences”.
Two questions posed to voters would be: should Catalonia be a state; if yes, should it be an independent one.
The constitutional court of Spain has agreed to hear the federal government’s challenge to the watered-down Catalan vote.
