'Cartel boss' Vicente Carrillo Fuentes captured
October 10 , 2014
Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, believed to be one of Mexico’s most wanted cartel chiefs, has been captured by the police, without any bullets being fired, according to media reports.
The 51-year-old alleged boss of Juarez Cartel and a bodyguard were detained at a checkpoint in Torreon, a city in north Mexico.
US authorities had offered a $5 million award for information that would lead to his arrest.
However, experts believe that Juarez Cartel’s influence has been decreasing in recent years after conflicts with rival cartels.
