'Cartel boss' Vicente Carrillo Fuentes captured

  • Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, believed to be one of Mexico’s most wanted cartel chiefs, has been captured by the police, without any bullets being fired, according to media reports.

The 51-year-old alleged boss of Juarez Cartel and a bodyguard were detained at a checkpoint in Torreon, a city in north Mexico.

US authorities had offered a $5 million award for information that would lead to his arrest.

However, experts believe that Juarez Cartel’s influence has been decreasing in recent years after conflicts with rival cartels.
