California wildfires now cover an area more than New York City and Boston combined

  • Firefighters in California are trying to combat Thomas Fire, which is the biggest among the six fires burning in the southern part of the state. Thomas Fire has emerged as the fifth largest fire in the history of the state and is currently covering an area of 230,000 acres. It has been estimated that the area covered by the fires is more than that of Boston and New York City combined. To make matters worse, there is no forecast of rain for around 10 days.
