Burma: Heavy rains displace more than 150,000 people; dozens killed
August 2 , 2015
About 30 people are feared dead in heavy rains in Burma in the past few weeks, according to conservative estimates.
The monsoon rains have also displaced over 150,000 people, the UN says.
The toll is set to rise as more information becomes available; many of the affected areas are still out of reach of monitoring teams.
Rakhine is among the worst affected state, with reports warning of intense damage. The government has declared a natural disaster in Rakhine and other areas after a cyclone made landfall in Bangladesh.
