Brazil has Set New Record with 69,000 Daily Coronavirus Cases

  • On Wednesday, Brazil has set a new record for COVID-19 cases and fatalities as the world's second-worst outbreak speed up towards the milestone of 100,000 dead amid easing lockdown. Outside the United States (US), Brazil becomes one of the worst-hit countries in both case count and death toll. As per the reports by Brazil's Health Ministry, the country has 69,074 new confirmed cases and 1,595 additional deaths, which has pushed the country past 2.5 million infections ad 90,000 killed. Alexandre Naime, head of the department of infectious diseases at Sao Paulo State University said "Brazil is experiencing the worst phase of the pandemic". He also added "Paradoxically, public policy and personal behaviour are going in the opposite direction, as we are not living through a daily tragedy".
