Botswana President Ian Khama injured by cheetah

  • Botswana President Ian Khama was injured by a cheetah after being scratched in the face on Monday.

    The animal was being fed in its enclosure at an army barracks when it jumped up and scratched Khama, who was standing nearby.

    The incident was described as "a freak accident, but not an attack", according to a government spokesperson.

    Khama required stitches following incident.
