February 28 , 2015
Boris Nemtsov, a prominent Russian opposition leader and a trenchant critic of President Vladimir Putin, has been shot dead in Moscow.
The former deputy prime minister was shot four times by an unidentified person in a car late on Friday night, not far from the Kremlin. In a statement by the Kremlin, Putin condemned the murder.
Nemtsov had recently expressed the fear that Putin would get him killed for his opposition to the Ukraine war.
In his last message on Twitter, Nemtsov had appealed to Russia’s opposition to gather on Sunday for a march to oppose the Ukraine war and “Putin’s aggression”.
