Border Wall Tax Proposal, Mexico Condemns the Idea
January 27 , 2017
The suggestion by US of imposing 20% tax on Mexican imports for the planned order wall of President Donald Trump, has been condemned by Mexico. Reports say that Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray mentioned that such kind of tax would result into expensive Mexican imports for consumers, and it is Mexico that has to pay for the wall.
A discussion on who would pay for the border was supposed to take place, but the Mexican president had canceled his visit to US.
Earlier this week, an executive order of creating a wall along the 2,000-mile US-Mexico border was signed by president Trump. Establishing the border wall was one of the key election campaign pledges of president Donald Trump.
