Australia: Police arrest Melbourne teenager on terror charges
May 9 , 2015
Australian police have arrested a Melbourne teenager on terrorism-related charges and foiled a plan to detonate three bombs in the city, authorities said.
Police officers raided a house in Greenvale, a northern suburb of Melbourne, and detonated three homemade devices. Prime Minister Tony Abbott said that evidence pointed to a bomb plot in a “reasonably advanced state of preparation”.
The arrest of the 17-year-old comes after five youngsters from Melbourne were detained last month for allegedly plotting an attack on an Anzac Day event.
