Australia goes to the polls

  • Liberal-National coalition government is leading the count in Australia’s election. To continue remaining in power it needs 76 seats without the support of the independent and minor parties. Currently, the postal as well as pre-poll votes are being counted which constitutes four millon of the votes besides the 10 million votes which have been cast today. The total number of seats in Australian lower house, which is 150 in number, House of Representatives as well as 76 seats in the Upper House are up for voting. The suggestive results is that large number of votes have been made in favour of independents and minor parties.
