Aung San Suu Kyi Dismisses UN Myanmar Probe
May 2 , 2017
As per reports, the decision by the UN’s right council to investigate allegations of crimes against minority Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar was rejected by Aung San Suu Kyi on Tuesday.
The UN body had agreed to launch a fact-finding mission to the Southeast Asian country over allegations of rape, murder and torture in Rakhine state.
According to the rights groups, hundreds of the stateless groups lost their lives in a months-long army crackdown. Around 75,000 Rohingya fled to Bangladesh where they faced army abuse.
UN investigators mentioned that the crackdown may amount to crimes against ethnic cleansing.
