At least 23 dead in West Virginia flood

  • Heavy thunderstorms on Thursday led to massive floods sweeping across West Virginia, which led to the death of around 23 people due to raging waters as mentioned by the State & Federal Officials. Trees and power lines collapsed as heavy rains sent creeks and rivers out of the banks and many stranded residents are still waiting to be rescued. According to National Water Service, there is 1 in 1000 chance of this type of rainfall happening in a given year. Severe damage to homes & infrastructure has taken place throughout the state. National Guard, Local Emergency Management Officials and fire fighters from across the state have been working round the clock to rescue people.
