Around 40 Australian women supporting IS, other terror outfits: Foreign Minister
February 26 , 2015
Australia’s foreign minister has said that up to 40 women from the country had participated in terror attacks or are supporting militant groups.
Julie Bishop told the country’s parliament that Australian women were going to Iraq and Syria to join their husbands who were affiliated to the Islamic State, or to marry a militant.
She said that though it defied logic that women would join Islamic State given the militant group’s treatment of women, one in every five foreign fighters in Iraq and Syria were women.
