Animals in Ebola trial cured of disease
August 30 , 2014
An experimental drug successfully used to treat animals infected with Ebola in a trial has raised hopes of a breakthrough in tackling the deadly disease which has claimed more than 1500 lives in West Africa this year.
The monkeys in the trial, who were exposed to lethal levels of the Ebola virus, received three doses of ZMapp, an experimental drug, in various stages.
The monkeys, including the ones showing severe symptoms, were cured, researchers said.
