AirAsia flight QZ8501: recovery operation suspended

  • The operation to recover the fuselage of the crashed AirAsia flight QZ8501 has been suspended, Indonesia’s military has said. Indonesian search teams were unable to retrieve the fuselage after attempting to do so for three days, media reports said.

    The plane, flying from Indonesia to Singapore, had crashed into the Java Sea on December 28. The aircraft had 162 passengers and crew on board. So far only about 70 bodies have been recovered.
