'Aid' delivered, Russian convoy heads home
August 24 , 2014
A Russian aid convoy has started moving out of eastern Ukraine after reportedly delivering around 1800 tonnes of food and other supplies.
The first batch of trucks were back in Russia, reports said.
Pro-Russian rebel fighters based in Luhansk said the distribution of aid would start. However, there is some doubt over how smoothly the aid can reach civilians amid fighting between Ukrainian troops and separatists in the area.
Kiev and western nations have slammed Russia’s move to send the convoy across the border, with Ukrainian officials even calling it a “direct invasion”.
