Afghan parliament ratifies US troops agreement

  • The Afghan parliament has approved agreements with the United States and Nato that allow foreign troops to stay in the country beyond the end of 2014.

The decision comes as the Taliban have stepped up their attacks in Afghanistan.

The international military mission was due to conclude by this year’s end. According to the new deal, US and Nato would keep 12,000 troops in the country to back Afghan forces.
