  • 4 new sites added by UNESCO to World Heritage List

    UNESCO’s (UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage Committee has added four new sites to World Heritage list for having special cultural and physical significance. The sites are India’s archaeological site of Nalanda Mahavihara (Nalanda University), Zuojiang Huashan Rock Art Cultural Landscape in China’s Zuojiang, Persian Qanat (consisting 11 qanats) in Iran, and Micronesia’s Nan Madol (consisting of a series of 99 artificial islets off the south-east coast). Currently, 1,037 properties are included in the World Heritage List.
