30 soldiers dead in Boko Haram attack in Niger

Thirty soldiers died in an attack by the Boko Haram militants in Niger. This is the deadliest attack by the militants since the killing of 74 people in Lake Chad island of Karamga in April 2015. Hundreds of assailants attacked the security forces in the southeastern town of Boso. The Defence Ministry made a statement that the security forces had taken control of the city. The town of Boso is a part of Od Diffa region where many refugees seeking safety from Boko Haram have taken refuge.
