278 dead in Egypt

Battles between security forces in Egypt and Mohamed Morsi supporters have killed at least 235 civilians. Out of the total 278 dead, 43 were police officers.
According to reporter Arwa Damon, this is just the beginning of a bloody battle since the interim government and the Egyptian security forces continue to try to control the streets of the region.
John Kerry, Secretary of State has urged the interim leaders in Egypt to restore order. "The path toward violence leads only to greater instability, economic disaster and suffering," he said.
Two journalists from Sky News and Gulf News respectively were among the dead. According to a security official, 200 of the protestors have been arrested.
