2 Italian hostages freed from Syria

  • Two aid workers from Italy held hostage in Syria for over five months have been released.

Italy’s Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni welcomed Vanessa Marzullo, 21, and Greta Ramelli, 20, as they flew from Turkey to Rome airport.

Details regarding the circumstances of their release have not been divulged.

Ramelli and Marzullo were working on a humanitarian mission at the time of their abduction in July 2014 in northern Syria’s Aleppo province.
