10 killed in gun battle between Indian troops, militants

  • A deadly gun battle between Indian troops and militants on Thursday, November 27, left at least 10 people dead in Kashmir.

Those killed included three civilians, media reports said.

Suspected Pakistani militants managed to enter a disused army bunker in Jammu, triggering the clashes.

Schools were shut down and civilians evacuated from the area as the fighting continued for six hours.

The encounter occurred near an army base in Arnia town that was the site of intense clashes between troops from both sides of the border in September.
