Why Apple may need a cheaper iPhone

Critics have questioned the company's inability to innovate. But the problem, however, according to analyst Brian White, is not Apple. It's everyone.
No amount of new gee-wiz features is going to change the fact that smartphone market has hit a wall due to high penetration rates and high price points. This, in particular is bad news for Apple because that's the main target of its phones.
White is also confident that Apple will unveil a gadget this year to address the fastest-growing segment of the smartphone market. But the cost of the company's products are also kept high because of high tariffs.
