Urine could be new spacecraft fuel
April 17 , 2014
Recycling urine could eliminate the expense of getting fuel and water to spacecraft in orbit. The idea of consuming water that once used to be pee could not only assist in hydrating astronauts but to also provide fuel to spaceships.
Reports suggest that astronauts already recover about 75 percent of water by recycling but distillation removes compound urea. Hence scientists say another process could help transform the same compound into ammonia that could fill a fuel cell and emit power.
