Twitter to shutdown TweetDeck apps
March 6 , 2013
Twitter announced on Tuesday it is discontinuing TweetDeck AIR, TweetDeck for Android and TweetDeck for iPhone, as well as ending support for Facebook integration.
The apps will be removed from their respective app stores in early May and will stop working shortly thereafter.
A blog post on the British company’s website stated: “To continue to offer a great product that addresses your unique needs, we’re going to focus our development efforts on our modern, web-based versions of TweetDeck. We think these web and Chrome apps provide the best TweetDeck experience yet, and that they are the apps in which you’ll want to see us add new capabilities first, followed closely by our Mac and PC apps.”
The news comes just months after it emerged that TweetDeck could be at risk of closure for not filing accounts with Companies House, which regulates the activities of all companies registered in the UK.
