Twitter and Facebook access in Iran is gone again

  • Iranians recently got the opportunity to waste their time on social media networking sites for a few hours because of a "technical glitch".

Reports suggest that Facebook and Twitter came back online for some Internet service providers in Tehran after four years but the blocks were restored once again by next morning.

Some hopeful people thought it was a move by the newly elected President Hasan Rouhani.

"Hurrary, I came to Facebook without using VPN," one of the users wrote on her wall. "Thank you Rouhani!!!"

The government has in the past, let the firewall for these sites slip open by mistake and this too could have just been a glitch.
