Scientists find that ocean floor is used as a garbage dump by humans
May 2 , 2014
Human litter can be discovered even in the depths of oceans and the most far-reaching places on Earth.
One of the latest scientific surveys done on the seafloor allowed scientists to analyze sites in the Arctic Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, and Mediterranean Sea. The media reports that they found clothing, plastic bags, and all kinds of litter about three miles below the water surface.
"This survey has shown that human litter is present in all marine habitats, from beaches to the most remote and deepest parts of the ocean," a researcher said.
