Saudi religious police slates Twitter users

The head of Saudi Arabia's religious police has lambasted citizens for using Twitter.
Sheikh Abdul Latif Abdul Aziz al-Sheikh said on Wednesday that anyone using social media sites, especially Twitter, had “lost this world and his afterlife".
Twitter was a platform for those who did not have a platform, he added.
Saudi Arabia reportedly boasts the world's fastest rise in the use of Twitter.
Topics ranging from religion to politics are highly popular in the conservative kingdom where such public discussion is often banned.
The country's Grand Mufti, Saudi Arabia's top cleric, has previously labeled users of the microblogging site as "clowns" wasting time with frivolous and even harmful discussions”.
