Samsung is to appeal against a U.S. court ruling that it infringed Apple’s software and design patents.
A jury in San Jose, California ordered Samsung on Saturday to pay the iPhone and iPad maker $1.05 billion in damages.
In retaliation, the South Korean tech giant accused Apple of taking advantage of U.S. patent laws and dominate the smartphone market.
The two firms make up more than half of global smartphone and tablet computer sales.
Apple had wanted $2.5 billion in damages while Samsung was after $519 million.
Apple will now seek import bans on several of its rival's products. Samsung is expected to appeal.
The Mesmerize, Galaxy Prevail and Infuse are among the handsets found to have infringed Apple's patents
Apple intends to seek sales injunctions at a follow-up hearing next month.
