Samsung 'disabling' Microsoft security updates, says expert
June 26 , 2015
Samsung faces allegations of leaving some computers insecure by disabling Microsoft security software and giving preference to its own.
In a statement, Samsung said that it had not blocked “a Windows 8.1 operating system update” on its computers, adding that it was only providing users the option of choosing “if and when they want to update the Windows software" on their products.
However, Patrick Barker, a Microsoft technical expert who brought the issue to notice, said that the Samsung software was preventing Windows Update from "automatically installing updates.”
