Researchers working on lie detector for Twitter
February 21 , 2014
European researchers are working on a system that can catch lies on Twitter and other social media. The goal of Pheme is to expose false statements by analyzing as to where tweets stem from and reporting the results after assessing their honesty.
"We will not be doing image analysis, so we won't be looking to see if a photo has been altered - it's too technically difficult," one of the researchers said. The system should be ready for testing in 18 months and false statements will be put into four categories namely, speculation, misinformation, controversy and disinformation.
