Presidential order: US to build world's fastest supercomputer by 2025

  • US President Barack Obama has signed an executive order to build the world’s fastest computer within ten years.

The American supercomputer is expected to be 20 times faster than today’s leading supercomputer, which is in China. Its capacity would be to make one quintillion calculations every second.

The National Strategic Computing Initiative, a new organization, will be in charge of research and building the machine.

The supercomputer will aid in the analysis of complex weather data and other scientific research.
