Now you may have to switch on mobile phone for security check

  • Passengers taking direct flights to the United States may have to switch on their mobile phones and other devices at the airport to prove that they are free from explosives.

“Powerless devices will not be permitted on board the aircraft,” the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said. “The traveler may also undergo additional screening.”

The TSA has not disclosed the airports where the additional screening would be conducted. In recent days people flying from Britain to the United States have on occasions faced additional checks on their phones.
