Mobile ads to boost Twitter ad revenue to $1 billion in 2014

  • Twitter could generate nearly $1 billion in ad revenue next year on the back of a rise in mobile advertising on its Web microblogging service, according to a report released on Wednesday.

Mobile ads will make up nearly half of Twitter's advertising revenue this year and will account for more than 60 percent of the company's ad revenue by 2015, according to research firm eMarketer.

Twitter's mobile ads, introduced in March 2012, could raise a total of $582.8 million this year. The figure is roughly double what it was in 2012.

Twitter, one of the world’s most popular social networking services, is privately held and does not disclose financial results.
